Beijing (Times Of Ocean)- China’s Foreign Ministry said Friday that President Xi Jinping and US Vice President Joe Biden will discuss the Ukraine crisis during their expected phone call.
“Upon invitation (from Washington), this phone call is an important opportunity to exchange views on the Ukraine crisis,” Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, said during a news conference streamed live.
Beijing, however, blames the United States for the crisis that arose with Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The White House on Thursday announced that the two presidents will hold a phone talk, which is an “opportunity” to assess Beijing’s stance on the Ukraine war.
“The absence of denunciation by China of what Russia is doing, this flies in the face, of course, of everything China stands for,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters at a news conference.
Xi and Biden held their last phone call in November.
